Try Scuba
Try Scuba is your chance to get wet and experience what scuba diving is all about. Signing up for a Try Scuba is a great way to decide whether getting a scuba diving certification is right for you. We know that once you come in and try it, you’ll love it!
Try it in one of two ways. Pick the one that you feel most comfortable doing.
SSI Try Scuba — pool experience. Spend one to two hours in a pool getting a taste of the scuba diving experience in the safety of a familiar setting.
SSI Try Scuba Diving — confined water experience. Spend three to four hours in a body of water that has good visibility and conditions and get a feel for the excitement of scuba diving. You will have an SSI Instructor as your personal escort and prior to your dive they will provide you with an overview of the proper knowledge and skills required to take your first look at the underwater world.
Once you have completed your TRY SCUBA Program you will be awarded a TRY SCUBA certificate – SSI and your Instructor congratulate you for this achievement. Ask your instructor to register you in our online system so you can experience and actively participate in the SSI World online.
Try Scubas are available through your local SSI Dive Center and SSI Resorts

Once you have completed your initial training you will be a certified SSI Diver. SSI certification is recognized world wide so your diving experiences will be limitless.
Short on time? Get your scuba diving certification started while on vacation and finish up when you get home!
Scuba Diver is the perfect course for those who do not have time to complete an entire Open Water Diver Program. The content of this program represents about half of a complete scuba diving certification program (SSI Open Water). You can then complete the second half and become a certified diver at another time, anywhere that is convenient for you.
This program allows you to get out there and experience diving to the fullest. You will be trained in the proper skills, knowledge, equipment and experience required to feel safe and confident during your open water dives, as well as have an SSI Instructor as your escort to guide you on your adventures.
Certified Scuba Divers are entitled to go diving under the direct supervision of a Dive Leader up to a maximum depth of 40 feet/12 metres.
When you decide to complete your certification, the Scuba Diver Program can be fully credited to your course. This way you will not have to redo any part of the program twice. After a short skill update you can complete your Open Water Diver rating.
At the end of the program you will receive your SCUBA DIVER Certificate indicating the successful completion of this program. This certificate entitles you to take part in guided dives all over the world. If you ever decide to continue your training and become a certified diver just contact your local SSI Training Facility for details on how to complete your SSI OPEN WATER DIVER rating.

Technical Extended Range
Looking for extreme action or just a dive beyond the limits? Check out SSI’s Extended Range and Technical Extended Range Programs!
Extending Your Range
Ever wonder what happens when you exceed a no decompression limit or what is just inside that shipwreck or cavern?
Would you like to know – but not if you have to wear 4 scuba tanks and complete 2 hours of decompression time? If so welcome to the world of extended range diving. Many divers are surprised to discover that many “technical” dives can be completed with minor modifications to their recreational diving systems.
If you are interested in learning what Technical Divers know about increasing safety when a NDL is exceeded or you would like to see what a shipwreck looks like from the inside out – all while managing your risk and using your current Total Diving System then Extended Range Diving is for you! A complete listing of Extended Range Courses with descriptions is below.
Xtreme Excitement
Some divers just want more – more depth, more time underwater, more penetration. If that describes you then the extreme programs in the SSI TechXR Range are for you!
If it is extreme you want - we have it: Extreme Depth? Down to 100 meters in our Hypoxic Trimix Course.
Extreme Penetration? Did you prefer a full on Cave or Wreck penetration course – either way TXR has you covered.
Extreme Time Underwater? Advanced Deco Procedures will let you hang underwater as long as your gas allows.
Extreme Big Animal Exposures? We got that too, a TXR CCR course will give you the ability to dive deep and silent enough to get up close and personal.
Whatever your current diving ability or aspirations Extended Range or Technical Extended Range Diving will challenge you with environments, depths, bottom times, procedures, and equipment not commonly encountered by recreational divers.
You will be experiencing advanced levels that require extensive knowledge, enhanced diving skills, and considerable experience and you will do it with an Apex Expert, your SSI XR or TXR Instructor at your side.
Xtreme Training
SSI provides world class support for your journey with these specific learning tools: a manual, interactive CD-ROM, Technical DiveLog and Technical Dive Slates. In addition, your instructor may also require you to have a personal copy of an advanced dive planning software program.
